Electric-vehicle exports through the Manzhouli road crossing grew 9.2-fold
In January–June 2026, 1,197 electric passenger cars were exported through the Manzhouli road crossing — 9.23 times more than in the same period last year. The figures come from Manzhouli Customs.
What is happening
The growth is driven not only by demand but by the clearance regime. For this category customs applies a combination of pre-declaration, inspection by appointment and expedited release, complemented by intelligent control points. In the agency’s wording, vehicles are checked as they arrive and released immediately after inspection. For selected exporters there is a “one enterprise — one decision” support scheme that reviews the entire declaration chain.
What it means for the shipper
First, it confirms that pre-declaration at the crossing works and delivers a measurable time gain — a ninefold increase within a single product group without expanding infrastructure cannot be achieved any other way. Second, car carriers and project cargo take up more and more slots at the road crossing, and this is a factor worth building into lead times for other commodity groups.
